Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Jordan continues his Wheel of Time saga (after The Eye of the World and The Great Hunt ). Three thousand years ago the Dragon led the male mages of the world into entrapping the Dark One, but the cost was high: all male mages, then and thereafter, were driven mad. Now the Dark One is breaking free, and the only salvation may come through Rand al'Thor who may be a reincarnation of the Dragon and who must obtain the sword Callandor, held in the city of Tear. All of Rand's companions from the previous books find themselves, willing or not, moving toward Tear for a confrontation with evil traps. Jordan's fast and absorbing adventure novel will keep the reader too entranced to worry about plot inconsistencies, numerous coincidences, lack of character development and Rand's inexplicably infrequent appearances. As light fantasy, however, it proves an enjoyable diversion.

From Library Journal

As the seals of the Dark One's prison continue to weaken, Rand al'Thor struggles to master the madness-tainted power that marks him as the Dragon Reborn. At the same time, his friends and companions become caught up in the roles laid out for them by the Web of Destiny. Though it borrows from a multitude of legendary and literary fantasy sources, Jordan's multivolume series continues to exhibit a freshness that makes it a welcome addition to any library's fantasy collection.

Way better than the writers of the show and I get to continue on to the next book. Amazon should stop ruining these great stories. If you’re going to cancel a show, don’t even start it. I’m tired of companies ruining these great books.

The Dragon Reborn by Robert Jordan is a thrilling third chapter in The Wheel of Time. Rand al’Thor’s arc anchors the story, as he grapples with his identity as the Dragon Reborn, tormented by prophetic visions and the creeping dread of madness tied to his immense power. His internal conflict—resisting destiny while being pulled toward it—adds poignant depth, making his journey both heartbreaking and riveting. Mat, Perrin, and Egwene’s dynamic arcs complement Rand’s, driving a fast-paced tale of action and intrigue. Vivid prose, rich lore, and clever foreshadowing elevate the stakes, making this epic fantasy a gripping must-read.

Good book seems the author is changing things accordingly I was thinking Rand would go crazy in the first book casting only once he had trouble remembering his name even, but cut to this book ending and Rand is now casting constantly with seemingly no problems at all so the author changed that aspect of the first book to match the length of the series… mat cauthon is probably my favorite part of this book his character really developed and they showed his personality much better here and he is by far the most likeable one of the three boys

The 3 book of this epic tale is very good. Here Mat starts to come in to his own and even tough Rand is not in the book that much what time he gets is well used.

Sofar Jordan has kept the stort pretty tight but going forward i think that he coukd do better editing but this is a very good book.

Love to see how the small pieces fit together throughout the book. Jordan builds tension so well, and I feel myself as a reader bracing for the next wrecking-ball moment as that tension builds. I find myself frustrated at how quickly the climaxes of each book so far is resolved. I wish he would let us sit in the big moments longer.
