PP 000: Introducing The Positive Productivity Podcast

Quick Show Notes: Introducing The Positive Productivity Podcast

I’m thrilled to introduce the Positive Productivity podcast! Over a year in the making, the final hurdle to actually making the podcast happen was simply getting over my fear and taking the last few steps to making this dream a reality…

What do I mean by getting over my fear?

Showing up, asking mentors, friends and acquaintances to be guests, and simply pushing “Record”! I can’t tell you why that little red button is so intimidating – maybe it’s the color? But I know I’m not alone in my fear.

It's here! Listen as @thekimsutton introduces the #positiveproductivity #podcast! https://thekimsutton.com/pp000Click To Tweet

Hey everybody! This is Kim Sutton, and I want to welcome you to the first ever episode of Positive Productivity.

This is a podcast all about teaching us all – and encouraging us all – to live positively productive lives… Keeping ourselves in a positive mindset, thinking abundantly and, no matter what your spiritual background is, just helping us live each day with our highest goals and our most positive selves in mind.

Now, I want to let you know that I am very transparent. I’m very authentic. You’re going to hear a lot on this podcast that you may not hear elsewhere. I’m going to be talking about struggles I’ve been through, struggles that my husband has been through. Day-to-day struggles that we face with our five children. We’re both entrepreneurs. We’re both trying to build our businesses. We have struggles with clients; My husband has struggles with his employer because he’s still working full-time out of the home.

But through all these struggles, it’s still vitally important that we keep our head on our shoulders and keep our chins high, because the best is yet to come.

And I’m going to repeat that –

The best is yet to come… for ALL of us.

We can’t get bogged down by the negativity of today when there is better to come tomorrow.

Now with that said, I need to let you know that we have been through plenty of struggles ourselves. We have dealt with unemployment. We’ve dealt with student loan debt. We’ve dealt with homelessness. Yes, my husband actually lived out of his car, in the middle of winter, in Fargo, North Dakota after getting out of the Air Force, and that was a HUGE struggle.

I’ve had a troubled marriage; my husband has had troubled marriages – we are not each others’ first marriage and I’ll get into that I’m sure in a later episode. We have between the two of us seven children.

I’ve dealt with the struggles of building my business. Building it too fast. Having it not grow fast enough. I’ve tried to be a mompreneur with my kids at home, and then I’ve also struggled with having them in daycare, or having a nanny and trying to figure out how to pay for that.

But with all those struggles, we had to keep on looking past today to tomorrow and see what the goal was that we were going for.

Because if you focus on what’s going on today then you might lose focus on your bigger goal and your bigger intention and your bigger purpose.

The words I live by in my life are “Positive,” “Purposeful”, “Productive” – and that’s what I want to share with all of you.

My intention today – and it may be different tomorrow, is to share a new episode with you at least once a week. Now let’s be real… My intention right now is to share one episode a week with you. If I get more in, I get more in. But I’m not going to over-commit and under-deliver – you know, the opposite of under-promise and over-deliver, because I don’t want you thinking, “Where did she go?” She said she would be doing it three times a week and she’s not. Well, I’m busy, you’re busy. I don’t expect you to tune in every time I release a new episode – but I really hope you will! And I hope you’ll subscribe and share any podcasts that made a difference for you with people who may benefit from them.

So, next I want to tell you where you can get in touch. Because – and this may surprise you, I DO want you to get in touch. I want you to reach out to me if you have any questions. If you know someone who could use extra support. Because a lot of the struggles that I’ve been through, and the struggles that future guests have been through – we don’t want people to suffer all alone while they’re going through these same obstacles.

But I want you to know how to get in touch with me in case you or somebody that you love needs further assistance.

And the ways that you can get in touch with me are by visiting my website, which is thekimsutton.com, or on Twitter, which is also @thekimsutton. And, just reach out, because I WILL respond.

I’m doing the show for you as much as I’m doing it for me.

It’s my purpose, I feel, to get out there and help people by sharing stories. Not only my stories, but the stories of the guests who will be on here in future episodes.

Not every episode will have a guest – some episodes will just be me talking to you. But my goal in every episode is to keep them commutable – maybe 20 to 30 minutes in length – there might be some that are longer, there might be some that are shorter – but just give you little nuggets to help you live a more positively productive day.

I also want to invite you to join the Positive Productivity Mastermind on Facebook and you can find that at facebook.com/groups/PositiveProductivityMastermind – and this will be in the show notes so all you have to do is just click on over – and there you’ll find a small but growing community of like-minded individuals who are trying to live the positively productive life.

Now, if you’re all ready to begin and you want to join me on this journey, please subscribe and I would love to see your comments. Just leave a message! Let me know what you would like me to discuss in a future episode! And you can also send me those comments on Twitter to @thekimsutton, or in the show notes you’ll find a link where you can submit any comments or questions to me directly through the site via email.

Now I just want to give you a disclaimer. Before you subscribe – and I hope this isn’t going to keep you from subscribing – but, I don’t have a professional office. You’re occasionally going to hear dogs barking or, heaven forbid, the lawn guy decides to come and mow the lawn. I’ll try to keep those out of any interviews, but it will happen.

This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being real and authentic and sharing stories of inspiration even if there’s… I don’t know… I was going to say typos but I guess that doesn’t really apply in a podcast. But you can get my point, because this is exactly what I’m talking about. I’m not going to edit that out. And I’m really not going to be doing that much editing anyway because…

This is life. It’s not always perfect. But it’s our job to keep a smile on our face and keep on going, one day at a time.

So I hope to have you back here next time, and I hope to see you subscribe. And if you like this first episode, please, please, leave a rating. I mean, I would love for it to be five star, but, you know, that’s asking a lot. Just give your honest rating. I would really appreciate it.

So with all that said, I think I’ve talked your ear off enough for this first episode, so I want you to go forth, do something positive for yourself or somebody else in your life today. And make it as positively productive as you possibly can.

Hey, if you’re still here, you should check out the podcast page on my website at thekimsutton.com because I’m going to be putting together a whole blooper reel because as I said, this isn’t about being perfect. This is about being real and as positive as we can be while we’re moving forward with our day.

So, I can not promise – and I won’t promise – that there’s not going to be any cussing or ridiculous sound effects because, yes, even in this first episode I’ve stopped and made ridiculous noises when I get tongue twisted. And if you’re having a rough day it just might make you laugh.

So hop on over to thekimsutton.com … forwardslash? backslash? whichever one… podcast, and get a laugh.

I’ll see you next time.
