Am I the only one who loves Mondays? If you love Mondays too, please head on over to thekimsutton.com/pp301 and let me know in the comments below the show notes.

I know that some people think that I’m crazy when I say I love Mondays and that weekend scared me. But let me give you an example of what happened this past weekend that reinforces me being scared of weekends.

Why do I get anxious on weekends?

Now, I will preface this by saying that every other weekend my boys, who are 15 and 12, are with their dad. And this past weekend was one of those weekends. Well, Robert, my 12-year-old, had made a project for school and had left it on his desk, which is in my office right behind my desk. I didn’t realize it was there, and it was a pyramid that was meant to be held in safekeeping in a shoebox. Note that I said: Meant to be.

Well, at some point on Friday night, one of our mischievous cats hit the shoe box onto the floor while we were sleeping. I heard the bang. I didn’t do anything about it because the cats do it all the time. And if I get up out of bed, every time I hear something go bang in the middle of the night then I won’t ever get any sleep. So, Saturday afternoon, Dave and I were doing some work around the house. And we realized that the twins who are three years old, were being very quiet. If you have kids, you know that sometimes quiet is good and sometimes it’s not. But let me tell you when twins are quiet together, it usually means they are getting into mischief.

Feeling anxious on weekends it’s so common, and so many people simply Love Mondays that there’s a series of Love Mondays memes running around. It is, actually, quite common. (Pins needed!)

Dave covered one side of the house and I covered the other and he found them, in my office with Roberts’s project eating it. It was a pyramid made out of sugar cubes. And I cannot deny that there was rubber cement holding the sugar cubes together. However, they had eaten it. They didn’t need all the sugar cubes. They did make a significant dent though. But just in case you’re alarmed, no they didn’t get sick. They just had a multiple-hour-long sugar high. And then on any given weekend, we’ve faced the battles of who has whose tablet when, who wants what toy when. One of them messing up another one’s bed or clothes or toys, hair pulling, pushing, shoving. And I would have to guess that every single recent weekend has involved a scrape or a cut or a bit lip of some kind.

Now please don’t think I’m complaining. I love my children! And it took a lot of heartbreak, four miscarriages to be exact, before we found out we were pregnant with our four-year-old Neveah. I would not sell any of them for a billion dollars. But as my stepmom has told me in the past, she wouldn’t sell her kids for a billion dollars, but she doesn’t know if she would buy them for a penny. My kids and my husband are the light of my life and I enjoy every single second I spend with them. But I know, I wish I could have this scientifically proven, that every new gray hair is helped along by them.

How to Love Mondays!

The quietness that comes on Monday is absolutely amazing. And just because I know that it’s the first day of the week, and all the kids will, hopefully, be back at school. I’ve started scheduling my Mondays off. That means no appointments can be scheduled by others unless I personally approve it. I know that I can come out to my desk with my coffee, do what I need to do, and be undisturbed for a blissful sevenish hours until the older kids get home from school. And while weekends are scary for me, they also provide me so much content.

My husband and I joke about when we’ll ever be able to sleep in again. But for now we enjoy one of us being able to sleep in on Saturday and the other one of us being able to sleep and on Sunday. I’m constantly reminded that my kids will only be this age once. And already looking at my 12 and 15-year old, I can see how quickly they’ve grown. I’m never going to deny that I love Mondays and the quietness of them, but I also love weekends too no matter how scary they are to me.

These memories are a gift and I hope your life is filled with crazy memories like these as well. As crazy as it may sound, I don’t know that I had a point for today’s episode, except embrace every day as it comes to you.

I would love to know if you love Mondays as much as I do. So again, you can go to thekimsutton.com/pp301 but I want you to go forth and make it a Positive and Productive day.
