Do you ever feel like you go through the weekend without a plan? And I know that right now weekends are a little bit crazy. They’re really not different from the week that much at least in my house or not. But you go through the weekend wondering what you could be doing to prepare for the week ahead and just not have a clue. Or do you wake up on Monday wondering what the heck did I do this weekend to set myself up for a successful week. I know the feeling because I used to be there and, and in this video, I’m going to be sharing three things that I do every single weekend that helped me set up for a more productive and streamlined week. My name is KIM SUTTON. I’m the host of the positive productivity podcast and I’m a business and marketing mentor. And it’s my goal to help you get away from your business and back to the people and activities that you love. So let’s go Back to those weekend activities again. I know I mean, I’m a mom of five, that sometimes like can get really crazy. I mean, thankfully my husband does most of the stuff around the house that requires going out of the house. I mean, he will actually let’s just be honest, he does all but he does the grocery shopping and a lot of the housework. So when it comes to weekends, I often find myself in a mix between being really into leisure or really into business, but I’m not always doing the things that I should do. Or I wasn’t always doing the things that I should do to lead to a more successful week. And I know that some of you may feel the same way. Please let us get out of quarantine soon, right. But here are those three things that I do that every single weekend now that helped me set up a more successful week. Thing number one, every single weekend, I go through QuickBooks. Now this is one of those things that I should definitely be delegating. To an accounting team, but I go through my QuickBooks Online every single weekend, and I reconcile my books. While this doesn’t necessarily affect the week itself, I know where the money stands. And at the end of the year, it’s not a mad rush to get all the financial information together for the accountant. So it takes me about five minutes I go through through the week’s transactions, say yay or nay, and move on. Thing number two that I do every single weekend to help me be more productive during the week is I clean out my downloads folder. Let me hear in the comments. If your downloads folder is an absolute wreck, it doesn’t matter if you’re on a Mac or a PC. But with all the social media images that I create, and doing stuff for podcasts and making content for courses and and everything else, my downloads folder easily has hundreds, if not sometimes more files in it by the time the weekend comes. But every single weekend now I take maybe an hour, usually a lot less to clean it out, I sort the files to where they need to go. I put the client related files in the client folder, I put all the podcast ones in. And then there’s all those social social media images that I’ve made. I sort them. As far as I’m concerned, I only want to have to make each social media image once and a lot of the stuff that I do for social media, especially Instagram, I can use again in the future. So I have Dropbox, Dropbox, folders for all of that. And I get them out of my downloads folder, into Dropbox or into iCloud. And it clears up the space on my computer. The reason why that makes me more productive during the week is all that bandwidth isn’t being used. You know, I’ve freed up the storage on my computer, and I can move on. And then way number three, that I am more productive during the week because of the things that I do on the weekend. So I usually set up most of my social media posts in advance. Now, full disclosure,
excuse me, the software I’m using right now for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn is not working. I’m not going to name the name, but I’m probably going to be going back to me, Edgar very soon. I love me, Edgar. I miss you. I will be back. Yes, that was a plug. So my posts for those three platforms have not been getting pre scheduled because I’ve just been trying to figure out where I’m going if I’m going to try to make the software that I’m using right now work or just go back. But for Instagram, I use tailwind and also for Pinterest. I use tailwind. And every single weekend, I set up most of my Instagram images in advance. Does that mean I don’t go into Instagram during the week? Heck no. I go in and engage not as much as they should. But I don’t have to think about what I’m going to post each day. I do have Instagram OCD, I must admit so I love My patterns to be a certain way. But tailwind makes it possible and I can also pre schedule my stories, I can pre schedule videos, all of that is taken care of entailment. The ability to get all of my social media pre scheduled allows me to free up the space each and every other day, each and every day. For other activities that I would rather be working on. I would love to know which of these three so taking care of your accounting every weekend, clearing out your downloads your desktop, your documents, folders on your computer, or way number three is pre scheduling your social media, which one of those that you’re not already working on? Are you going to start doing next weekend? To help you make the week ahead? more productive? Let me know in the comments. If you like this video, please give it a thumbs up. I don’t know if you know but my husband’s a video game designer. I’m a video gamer and I love to level up in games as much as I love to level up in life. So the next weekly tracker was a game basically that I set up for myself No, it’s not actually digital. But it’s a way for me to assign experience points to those activities that will help me get to the next level. I want to help you get to the next level. That’s why we’re doing next level Mondays. So anyway, go on over to next level tracker comm get that and with all this said, I’ll be back on Wednesday with another work smarter, not harder video. I hope you go forth and make it a positive and a productive day.
